The submarine project 677 Lada B-586 Kronstadt was developed in the mid-1990s. Initially, it did not provide for the installation of individual starting systems for winged missiles, so torpedo devices will be used to start the calibers. RF Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said on March 7, that the diesel-electric submarine of the project 677 "Lada" B-586 "Kronstadt" will be part of the Northern Fleet.

The project was engaged in the Central Design Bureau of Maritime Engineering "Rubin" in St. Petersburg.

The submarine of the project 677 "Lada" B-586 is equipped with a diesel-electric power unit with a pair of generators with a capacity of 1000 kW and a main electric motor of 4100 hp, which interacts with a single rowing screw. The length of the submarine is 67 meters at a maximum width of 7. 1 meters. The watertone in the underwater position is 2650 tons. The boat is able to dive to a depth of up to 300 meters and to develop speed up to 21 knots underwater (up to 40 km per hour).

The Kronstadt project is equipped with six torpedo devices for use torpedoes and mines, and individual launchers on the submarine are not provided.
