The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation can receive weapons from Sudan: in ISW told that the Kremlin has promised instead

According to analysts, Moscow negotiated with the African country on defense cooperation in 2020, but they had to be postponed indefinitely. A month ago, the dialogue recovered. Russia may in the near future sign an agreement on the exchange of various weapons with Sudan. The report of the American Institute for War Study (ISW) revealed some details of such cooperation.

According to analysts, Moscow is looking for new partners in the defense scheme that would be ready to provide components or weapons for war against Kiev. In this regard, an agreement with Sudan may be prepared. It involves the exchange of weapons for the Russian logistics center in Port-Sudan in the Red Sea.

Assistant Commander-in-Chief of Sudanese forces Yasir Al-Atta, according to ISW, said recently that in the near future the delegation intends to visit the Kremlin, where the corresponding contracts will be concluded. At the same time, the Russian hub on the Red Sea is not planned as a military base. The fact is that the parties tried to agree on the establishment of the Navy base of the Russian Federation 4 years ago, but due to a number of factors, they postponed this decision indefinitely.

Last month, the negotiations resumed when the Special Representative of the head of the Russian Federation in Africa and in the Middle East, Mikhail Bogdanov, negotiated with the leader of the Sudan troops during his visit to the country. "Russia may be moving to the other side of the civil war in Sudan to support it in the desire to obtain a naval base in the Red Sea. - summed up analysts.
