There was no such thing before: in the European country of floming flocks attack rice fields, farmers in despair
You put so much time and care in preparing everything," a 63-year-old farmer complained with many years of experience. Italian farmers growing rice for risotto, from late spring to early summer flood the fields, so that the seeds just planted sprout. And until these fields are drained, Flamingo flocks pose a danger to the crop. They fly to the flooded fields and move them with their wealthy paws, which spoil the crops.
Hungry birds are looking for in the flooded fields of algae, as well as insects and shellfish. And although the rice seeds planted in the moist soil do not cause their interest, with their search for what to eat, flamingo destroy the fields. Experts suggest that flamingos have arrived from the former nesting sites in the neighboring valleys of Komakkio, Water Boarding Reserve. Italian farmers in despair try to protect their fields from the flamingo invasion.
They patrol them almost around the clock, beat them in barrels and signal trucks, trying to scare them away. Some have thought of using small gas guns that make loud noises that scare off birds. However, this gives a small result: usually birds simply fly from place to place, settling on a nearby rice field. It is worth noting that the flamingo population is also growing in Ukraine.
