Volkswagen accused of cars to the Russian Federation: concern is denied

Jetta cars from the joint venture Faw-Volkswagen appeared on the Russian market. The carmaker claims that they were put in the Russian Federation without his knowledge. Volkswagen cars could return to the Russian market, although the German manufacturer denies its involvement in it. This is discussed in the publication of the German edition Die Zeit.

The article states that Volkswagen stopped supplying the car to the Russian Federation and began to close its factories a week after the start of a full -scale invasion of Ukraine. However, in July this year, Jetta cars (not to be confused with Volkswagen Jetta) appeared on the Russian car market. Under this brand, models at the joint venture Faw-Volkswagen in China are manufactured.

Jetta is designed mainly for the domestic Chinese market and are cheaper and slightly altered versions of familiar Volkswagen models. The daughter of a Chinese company appeared in the Russian Federation and has started its official site. Two models were presented. Jetta VA3 is a clone of Volkswagen Polo Sedan, and Jetta VS5 crossover is SEAT Ateca and Skoda Karoq.

The Volkswagen spokesman noted that the German concern knew nothing about the decision of the Chinese company, moreover, that the share of FAW in a joint venture is greater. However, Die Zeit journalists have questioned it: it is difficult to believe that such a step is possible without the knowledge of Volkswagen. It is also noted that after sending a request to Volkswagen, the Jetta Motors Russia stopped working.
