Sickle, press and lasers: what Russia is able to defend against the attacks of Ukrainian UAVs (photo)

To spread: modern UAVs have become a serious threat to critical infrastructure: they set fire to energy objects, disable the enterprise, cause congestion on railways and collapse at airports. In these circumstances, Russia is looking for ways to counteract Ukrainian drones that affect important enemy objects.

Protection of objects from drones is one of the priority tasks of Russian developers, said Natalia Kotlyar, Deputy Director of the Research Institute of Vector (part of the State Corporation "Rostekh"). According to her, modern UAVs are becoming more autonomous and equipped with artificial intelligence, capable of recognizing obstacles and goals in real time. Drones can work in groups, reconnaissance and strike rockets or kamikadze, as well as use stealth technologies to reduce visibility.

Kotlyar notes that in such a situation the presence of a thoughtful antitrone system on the object is the same natural requirement of time as the presence of ordinary gearboxes. The basis for the protection of Russian objects is a multi -level system of combating UAV. Key elements include: Special attention is paid to the Separate Systems, the latest modification of the April-BS13D works at 13 frequencies, combining the EW and a high-precision detector.

It is capable of destroying quadcopters, FPVrons and swarms. For mobile protection, press complexes are used that can be installed on cars and provide circular suppression of drones at a distance of up to 150 meters. To identify inconspicuous goals, a knitted passive coherent passive locator (3D PCL) is also used from the Vector Research Institute.

It does not radiate signals and works even in a complex urban environment, analyzing the reflected radio signals and determining the coordinates of targets by tens of kilometers. Meanwhile, the protection against a swarm from hundreds or thousands of drones is possible, if you use a comprehensive approach, the Kotlar added. And these are detectors, shi analysis, Reb, kinetic products and physical barriers. At the same time, staff training and training remain an important component.
