Western armies have 100 Patriot batteries, but cannot transfer 7 of them to Ukraine - Borrel

The EU Diplomacy Head believes that it is necessary to pay more attention to Ukraine's protection from the Russian Federation rather than its restoration. The EU does not make enough to protect Ukraine from Russian missile attacks. While the Western armies have about one hundred Patriot batteries, Kiev cannot get seven. This was stated by the EU Supreme Representative and Security Policy of Josep Borrel.

"A few days ago I had a conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba, and he desperately asks seven Patrio batteries to protect our country. It would be unthinkable that we could not provide them, given that the Western armies have about 100 Patriot batteries . However, we cannot provide those seven who are desperately asking for, "Borrel said.

According to the diplomat, the European Union should talk more about the protection of Ukraine from Russian attacks, not its restoration. "The best way to spend less on recovery is to spend more to prevent destruction. And Ukrainians do not have the opportunity to avoid destruction, because, in truth, we must do more and faster to allow them to have the necessary," the official said.

We will remind, earlier President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that in order to completely close the sky to Ukraine need to existing systems another 25 units of Patriot on 6-8 installations each. At the same time, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has announced that the Allies would conduct an urgent revision of their stocks and, if possible, will send additional air defense systems and ammunition to Ukraine.
