Cancellation of conscription and courses for conscripts. Shmigal told what the Ukrainian army could be after the war

Prime Minister Denis Shmigal believes that after the war in Ukraine it is necessary to introduce courses for conscripts. He expressed his opinion during a briefing on Wednesday, September 14. According to Shmigal, in the future, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will fully complete the implementation of NATO standards, and the Soviet model of conscription should be canceled. He said that the core of the Ukrainian army should be contractors.

Video of the Day "All Citizens, at least all men, must be conscripted and take appropriate courses. In my vision, and we have already started discussing these things, calling as a Soviet model should be canceled. It makes no sense to spend two years to learn to march, ”the Cabinet head said. The day before, the President's office presented the first security guarantees developed by the International Expert Group. The document in particular has recommendations on territorial defense forces.

They are offered to include all civilians from the age of 18. "According to the model of countries with compulsory military conscription, Ukraine should keep quite large territorial defense forces, including reservist services, which can be called up for military service," the recommendations said. Earlier, the Minister of Defense Alexei Reznikov said that the vast majority of Ukrainian men should be ready to fight, as the Armed Forces also suffer losses at the front.
