Attack in turn: the Armed Forces Brigades use M-55S tanks like howitzers-Forbes (Video)

Slovenian tanks combine the corps and towers of the Soviet T-55 of the 1950s, the modern Israeli fire control system and the classic British Garma L7 105 mm. Two weeks after the publication of a photo of the 5th Tank Brigade of the Armed Forces with the Slovenian M-55C tanks, which have undergone a deep modernization, they also appeared in the video of the 127th Brigade. Forbes writes about it.

These tanks combine the corps and towers of the Soviet T-55 of the 1950s, the modern Israeli fire control system and the classic British Garma L7 105 mm. At the end of 2022, Slovenia handed over 28 copies to Ukraine - and was distributed to different brigades of the Armed Forces. The 127th brigade protects the site between the steppe and the lace in the Zaporozhye region. This is not the most peaceful area of the front, but not the most clearly.

The Russian regiments began the offensive here in January and in three months advanced about one and a half kilometers. In early March, the 5th Armed Forces Brigade, which for several months engaged in the organization and training in Kryvyi Rih, received the former Slovenian tanks. The brigade already had a Leopard 1A5 German production with the same L7 gun as the M-55S and the same shells. By the fifth, M-55S also received the 47th Ombre and possibly 65.

The 47th brigade abandoned the outdated M-55S after supplying modern Leopard 2a6, and later M1 Abrams. The 5th brigade may also receive enough Leopard 1 and be able to give up M-55S. It is also possible that the fifth brigade left part of 27 Slovenian tanks and gave the rest to others. Less than the 127th brigade, apparently, does not try to use the M-55S non-standard.

But here is the 47th, which in direct battles with Russian storms in Berdychi uses Abrams, it seems to use lighter and less protected former Slovenian tanks as howy. The video of the 127th brigade depicts at least one M-55S in the afternoon, accompanied by the ATV. The tank flies out of the forest, stops and raises the L7 gun high to shoot at a distance of many kilometers. Russian troops also often use tanks as howy, usually complemented by drones.

Although the main tool of the tank does not withstand difficult operating conditions for which howitzers are intended, mobility and protection make it a useful tool when special artillery is not available. Against the backdrop of the M-55S artillery ammunition, 105 mm shells may be more valuable as howitzers. It should be reminded that FPV-punks did not allow the Russian troops to steal the Swedish tank Strv 122.
