The Russian Federation showed new Krasnopol-M2 shells for 155 mm guns: what is known

The exhibition "Army-2024" also shows the drone "Orlan-30", which is equipped with an optical-electronic intelligence system and a laser target for the effective use of "Krasnopol". At the International Military-Technical Exhibition "Army-2024" design bureau of instrumentation (KBP), which is part of the holding "High-precision systems", presented a managed ammunition "Krasnopol-M2" for 155 mm artillery systems. This was announced on August 16 by the European Defense Review.

The new development is based on the 152mm Krasnopol-M ammunition, which has shown high efficiency in hostilities in Ukraine during the defeat of low-size moving and immovable purposes. For the effective use of ammunition, it is necessary to "illuminate the target", which is carried out both by a ground laser target-dial-Dalecomir HCC-3M, and an unmanned aircraft.

In this case, the use of UAVs for illumination of goals allows to hit the goals in the depth of the enemy's defense, where the placement of a ground commanding and surrounding point can be complicated or dangerous. In this regard, the Krasnopol-M2 complex was demonstrated by the Rann-30, equipped with an optical-electronic reconnaissance system, a laser target and an automatic target support system.

"Krasnopol-M2" is managed by a portable complex of automated fire control systems of artillery units "Malachite" (KSAUO). This system makes it possible to: the main characteristics of the Krasnopol-M2 ammunition: the maximum range of open and closed fire positions is 20-25 km depending on the type of artillery system and the region of application. The K155m projectile has a length of 1200 mm and weighs 54 kg.
