It is enough for a few days of war as in Ukraine: in Poland, low reserves of all ammunition

The Polish army radically increased the purchase of equipment after the start of a full -scale war in Ukraine, but does not yet conclude long -term contracts for ammunition production. Therefore, shells and ammunition are needed to be enough for at least 90 days. The full -scale war in Ukraine did not encourage Poland to conclude long -term contracts for the supply of ammunition to the army. About it reports Polish Defense 24.

The Ministry of Defense practices short -term orders for small batches of ammunition for the country's armed forces. However, they do not provide sufficient supplies for the army and do not lead to investment in production. Therefore, if the situation is not changed in Poland, then she will have to queue to foreign suppliers who do not cope with requests. One of the main lessons in the Russian-Ukrainian war-ammunition was spent much more than expected in all analyzes.

Previously, it was believed that without war it was necessary to have stocks of ammunition for 30 days of fighting, now it is about 180 days to deploy defense production. The war in Ukraine has led to a sharp increase in demand for all kinds of ammunition: from expensive high -precision missiles to cartridges of all calibers. NATO leading countries and weapons exporters - France, Germany and the United States - are already faced with famine of ammunition.

In Poland, as the author notes, did not draw conclusions. The army does not conclude long -term contracts for the purchase of ammunition. Large orders are made only from the purchase of foreign armored vehicles and artillery. If the Ministry of Defense plans to radically expand the army with equipment, then you need to increase production capacity. In particular, Poland is needed: in 2019, Poland concluded a contract for the supply of 24 thousand 155 mm of ammunition, but was performed for 3 years.

And so many ammunition in Ukraine goes a week of fighting. The Javelin and Spike PTRC rockets in Poland are 200 and 2000, respectively, and the experience of the Russian-Ukrainian war showed that at least 10,000 units of such weapons are required for the first months of full-scale confrontation. However, there is also a positive example: Poland made up to 300 shots for the Grimm LASC Last year. They decided to double production, and by 2024 to increase it to 1500 missiles annually.
