Reduction of mobilization age in Ukraine: The Council explained why the Armed Forces needed young people (video)

President Volodymyr Zelensky has not yet signed the law on the possibility of mobilizing Ukrainians from the age of 25, but talking about the mobilization of 20 years. A member of the Parliamentary Defense Committee Sergey Rachmanin explained why such a need arose. Further decisions to reduce mobilization age depend on the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and hostilities.

A member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence Sergey Rachmanin said this in an interview for Ukrainian Pravda. "To begin with, we must wait for the changes we have already approved," he emphasized. The official explained that in the issue of reducing the mobilization age up to 25 years already adopted by Parliament, there has not been a "shift". In his view, the introduction of this change would help the military leadership to decide on further plans.

"If this happens, they will be able to calculate how much they will really receive in the plus to the mobilization resource, and they need to increase the number, respectively, reducing the age bar," Rakhmanin said. He noted that the need for a mobilization resource is determined by the General Staff of the Armed Forces. This need now follows for two reasons: the complexity of assault actions and the speed of technological progress.

As Rahmanin explained, certain types of fighting require younger soldiers. In particular, it is about managing drones. "UAVs are actively used. The military is actively using computer programs. This requires some skills," the official said. We will remind, Ukrainians aged 18-27 years old are subject to conscription, but not mobilization.
