"It will be very difficult": the Armed Forces will not be able to keep defense without the help of the US - Zelensky

The President of Ukraine stated that Russia spends "billions" on spreading false information about the war. She managed to influence the debate in the United States. Without military assistance from the United States, the Ukrainian military will not be able to maintain defense against Russian invaders. This was stated in an interview with CNN Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

According to him, without the help of the United States Ukraine will not only be difficult to achieve any new success in the battlefield, but it will also be difficult for it to continue to defend itself this year. "People will be prepared, but the ammunition and crews will not be prepared . . . Not only for our counter -offensive, they will not be ready to defend themselves, remain strong. It will be very difficult," he said.

In the same interview, the President said that he had a conversation with the Speaker of the House of Representatives Republican Mike Johnson about a package of assistance to Ukraine. According to Zelensky, after this conversation he felt optimism. "He said he would do everything to support Ukraine and he is on our side. He understands how heroic our people, our soldiers and civilians are," he said.

The head of state noted that although he understands that the US is approaching the elections, he hopes that the assistance agreement for Ukraine can be reached. According to Zelensky, Russia spends "billions" on spreading false information about the war. She managed to influence the debate in the US. "I was surprised that they are strong even in the US, in the EU, all over the world. They put a lot of money into it," he said.

It should be noted that on February 16, the US House of Representatives went to vacation without considering the bill on assistance to Ukraine. She will return to Congress only on February 28. The White House stated that such a decision was undermining national security. Later on February 17, the Congress was told when the House of Representatives would vote for the help of Ukraine.
