Moscow will be unpleasant: Europe has found a new replacement Russian gas

Qatar, after the Netherlands, Germany and France, agreed to supply its gas to Italy. Thus, the EU countries will fill the losses associated with the abandonment of Russian energy. The energy crisis in Europe, which emerged in 2022 after the start of the war in Ukraine and a sharp reduction in the supply of Russian gas, in 2023, it seems that Europe does not threaten. All because European countries have found a new ally that will provide them with "blue fuel" for the winter.

About it reports Bloomberg. As noted in the publication, the new gas allies of Europe becomes Qatar. Thus, on October 23, Italy signed a long -term gas supply agreement with this country. Earlier, the Netherlands, France and Germany, which will receive 3. 5 million tons of liquefied fuel by 2050, agreed on cooperation. Journalists say that with the help of only two contracts, the European Union will be able to replace 6. 5% of gas imported from Russia to a full -scale invasion of Ukraine.

And the total figure is about a quarter of "pre -war" deliveries. In total, European countries will receive 27 million tons of LNG in the 2030s-an equivalent of 3 billion cubic meters of gas, or a quarter of Russian deliveries. In addition to Qatar, the EU gas is also supplied by the United States.

At the same time, as previously reported in his Telegram-channel the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy, Danilo Getmantsev, thanks to the long-term contacts of the EU country, they will be able to buy gas at lower prices than on the exchange. And agreements mean that the product will come continuously. Long -term contracts usually make it possible to significantly reduce the price of gas compared to purchases on the exchange.

In addition, such contracts are guaranteed by continuous fuel supply. "Earlier in the European Union planned to reduce gas consumption in the framework of the Green Transition. But there are already long -term agreements that declare a new common position of Europeans - they do not plan to restore energy resources with Russia even when the war against Ukraine end," the politician wrote.

At the same time, we recall that Russia is actively trading in liquefied natural gas with different European countries. As reported at the end of the summer of The Financial Times, in seven months of 2023, the import of liquefied gas from Russia to EU countries increased by 40% compared to the same period of 2021. Also, Germany has not yet refused cooperation with the Russian Federation.
