Sholtz declared supply of the sixth IRIS-T air defense complex to Ukraine (video)
This corresponds to the previous statements that the sixth firing installation of the IRIS-T SLM, as well as two additional IRIS-T SLS launchers, promised by Germany, will be delivered to Ukraine by the end of the year. The information on the transfer was also confirmed by the monitoring project of German Aid to Ukraine on the social network X. The transfer of this SAM was announced by President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky in November, after negotiations with Olaf Scholts.
In October, Germany put both Iris-T versions in Ukraine: according to the end of the year, the Ukrainian defense forces should receive two Iris-T SLM complexes and two IRIS-T SLS. In total, according to Chancellor Scholz, Germany ordered 17 Iris-T systems for Ukraine. The IRIS-T SLM anti-aircraft missile complex is designed to destroy various air threats, including aircraft, helicopters, drones and winged missiles.
It is able to impress targets up to 40 kilometers, which makes it effective for protecting large areas and strategically important objects. The complex is characterized by high accuracy and versatility in conditions of intense air attacks. The IRIS-T SLS system, in turn, is designed to intercept targets on small range-up to 12 kilometers and at heights up to 8 kilometers. Its key feature is the use of a modernized IRIS-T missile with an infrared head of homing, adapted for ground start.
