According to representatives of the Italian defense department, the radars recorded a plane of the Russian Federation, which did not respond to radio signals and requests. Italy's military-air forces stated that they had caught unknown aircraft that flew over the international waters of the Baltic Sea. Reuters writes about it. It is reported that both interceptions were made on Thursday and Friday morning by Italian Eurofight fighters based on the Malbork Air Force Base in Poland.
After that, the Italian planes returned to the Polish base. According to the agency, two sources in the Italian defense department were recognized by intercepted aircraft as planes belonging to the Russian Federation. According to the sources, the radars noticed a Russian plane that did not respond to radios and inquiries.
We will remind, on March 1, German fighters who departed from the Latvian military base "Lielvarerd", for the first time in history carried out intercepting Russian aircraft near the territorial waters of Latvia.
