In the Russian Federation, they want to increase Iskander's range up to 1000 km: how real it is - experts

Russian engineers can also increase the weight of the battle part of the rocket to 800 kg. Thus, the explosion power will double. Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoiga recently stated that Iskander missile complexes should be finalized taking into account the experience of their use in Ukraine. Probably a modernized option will have a heavier warhead - up to 800 kg, and the flight range will increase to 1000 km.

Defense Express experts have told how the real plans of the aggressor have improved their missiles. On February 17, Izvestie reported about plans to modernize the Iskander. In the publication, some "military expert" Dmitry Kornev spoke about how to improve the flight characteristics of the rocket, change combat equipment, provide new opportunities to overcome it.

Among other things, it was noted that the development of the complex allegedly took into account the rules of the contract for restriction of missiles of small and medium range. Therefore, the maximum border of Iskander is 500 km. However, to date, Russians can equip a 9M723 rocket with a new solid fuel engine that will increase flight range to 1000 km. In addition, the combat part of the rocket can be increased to 800 kg, which will increase its strength almost twice.

In terms of Air Defense, the enemy considers such an option as launching missiles on a "network -centric" principle - when one part is aimed at missile defense and the other part is directly aimed at the target. Commenting on the publication, Ukrainian experts noted that the plans for the modernization of the tactical missile system "Iskander", taking into account the capabilities of the Russian MIC, may be fully implemented, even if the technical aspect raises questions.
