South Korea Navy awaits Ship-to-Air Missile-II: what a new rocket will be capable of

The new weapons of the "Air-Air-II" ship is designed to replace US missiles SM, which are currently used by South Korean maritime forces. According to sources, after commissioning, it will replace the American landscapes of the Earth-Air class, which are currently using the Navy of South Korea, while maintaining a similar operational purpose and concept. In its size, it exceeds SM-2MR Block IIIA and uses an initial accelerator borrowed from the TSLM landing rockets, which itself is a modification of the C-Star anti-ship.

The characteristics of the rocket cover a range of more than 180 km, supported by a boutter and a two -immune motor. The weapon will be 90% equipped with South Korean advanced technologies of accurate guidance and search. Thus, the weapons integrated domestic missiles and goal search technologies, including Gansspa with a capacity of 1 kW.

In addition, Ship-to-Air Missile-II is visually similar to the available L-SAM (AAM), with changes that include the addition of the initial accelerator and improved guidance blocks and seekers. Combined with the KDDX-II ship-air-II rocket will be equipped with a system of interception of ballistic missiles, which will further strengthen their defense capabilities. The leader of the projected weapon group in DAPA Don Sok emphasized the double value of the project.

According to him, the rocket on the one hand will protect against the threats of the northern neighbor, on the other - will give impetus to the development of the defense industry in the field of independent research and development of high -precision managed weapons.
