The President and the Foreign Minister of Lithuania discussed the security of the region and potential threats from Russia and Belarus
During the meeting, they discussed the security of the region, potential joint threats from Russia and Belarus, in particular in the context of a recent attack by Russian drones on Poland. The President noted that Ukraine is ready to share with partners the experience of combating Russian rockets and drones. Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Kiastutis Budris also paid attention to the need to strengthen the sanction policy.
Ukraine and Lithuania have the same vision: sanctions should work against Russia and Belarus as long as aggression continues. The Head of State thanked Lithuania for the support of all initiatives aimed at strengthening Ukraine. In particular, he noted the participation of Lithuania in the Purl initiative, which allows you to buy scarce weapons in the United States, as well as for participation in the SAFE program.
The parties paid particular attention to the possibilities of joint defense production and the potential participation of Lithuania in the guarantee of security for Ukraine. Volodymyr Zelensky also thanked for the opening of the Central Lithuanian Project Management Agency in Ukraine, which will coordinate the projects for the reconstruction, demining, education and rehabilitation of the wounded. Special attention is the support of Ukraine on the way to membership in the European Union.
