Reb blocks GPS signal: the Russian Federation has started a hybrid war in Poland and the Baltic region - ISW

The Russian Federation began to stumble GPS during NATO's exercises in the Baltic region. In Sweden, even criminal proceedings were opened on this fact. In Poland and the Baltic region, large -scale failures have recently occurred in GPS. This may be involved in the Russian Reb. Analysts of the American Institute of War (ISW) write about it. Thus, the Polish Radio Zet radio station analyzed data from the GPS GPSJam GPS tracking site from January 16.

They showed an unprecedented high level of GPS muffling in northern and eastern Poland, including Warsaw and south to Lodz. GPSJAM data also demonstrate the same high-level GPS obstacles in the southern Baltic Sea and Northwestern and Central Poland between December 25-27, 2023 and January 10, 2024.

According to Polish media, GPS failures in December 2023 could be caused during NATO's exercises in the Baltic region or could be related to recent Russian trials of the Russian Federation in the Kaliningrad region. Sweden's military intelligence and safety service opened a case of obstacles on January 12 against the background of the EWS of the Baltic Fleet of Russia.

On January 6, Swedish Lieutenant Colonel Jakim Paasikivi stated that recent obstacles in GPS work were the result of the so -called "hybrid war" of the Russian Federation and informed that Russia has still interfered with GPS in Northern Europe to disrupt NATO's studies. The Russian media of December reported that the Russian Federation conducted training with the system of Borisoglibsk-2 RES in the Kaliningrad region.

"Now ISW cannot check on its own, the cause of GPS obstacles, but the assumption that Russian radio electronic struggle in the Kaliningrad region can affect Poland and the Baltic region so significantly," the Institute for the Study of the War concludes. Recall that Russian invaders in the FPV-ames are already using automatic completion, which will adversely affect the counteraction from the Ukrainian EIT. In this case, the operator value is minimized.
