The Verkhovna Rada supported the President's initiative to create an institution of military Ombudsman

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine was supported by the bill on the establishment of an institution of the military Ombudsman, which was initiated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. 283 MPs voted in favor. As the head of state signs the document and it will come into force, the military Ombudsman will have the authority to protect the rights of servicemen.

In particular, he will be able to accept and process complaints, carry out inspections in military units and military administration, interact with other bodies of the security and defense sector. The Ombudsman's military will also analyze the causes of warriors' violations, prepare proposals to eliminate violations and prevent them in the future, provide recommendations to the military management on how to change the situation with the rights of servicemen.

Olga Reshetilov thanked the President of Ukraine for the protection of the rights of military personnel and their families for a clear position and initiative, as well as the previous and current Ministers of Defense - for support, the Central Department of Protection of the Rights Development of the bill. “The adoption of the law is an important, but far from the last step, that the Ukrainian military has a tool to protect their rights: they felt care and justice.

There is a lot of responsible work ahead, many changes and at the same time many challenges to protect the honor and dignity of those who protect us, ”Olga Reshetilova emphasized. Volodymyr Zelensky noted that the creation of an institution of the military Ombudsman is an objective need. This was the request of the Ukrainian military. The head of state discussed the establishment of the institution with the Minister of Defense, military command and civil society representatives.
