"Escalation is already happening": the Foreign Ministry of Lithuania came up with a "adequate response" NATO on the threat of Russia

According to Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielus Landsbergis, the rotation of air defense, which could be carried out in the Black Sea region and in the Baltic, could be an effective response to Russian escalation. He said this at a press conference with Romanian colleague Luminitsa Sobesk in Vilnius, LRT reports. In mid -2023, the Alliance agreed to create a similar model, but it has not been implemented to date. Baltic countries are currently negotiating with potential partners that could accommodate air defense systems in the region.

"Rotation of air defense, which could be carried out both in the Black Sea region and in the Baltic region, would, in my opinion, be an adequate response to the Russian escalation, which is already happening," the Lithuanian minister said. He mentioned the events associated with the fall of unmanned aerial vehicles of the Russian Federation in Romania, as well as the case where the occupation rocket entered the airspace of Poland.

"Escalation is already happening, and these actions, the fall of drones, no matter how they are unintentional, is an escalation. There would not be a war if Russia did not wage a war against Ukraine," Landsbergis said.
