This opinion was expressed in the report of November 11 by military analysts of the Institute of War (ISW). The report states that carrying out tactical assaults of Ukrainian fortifications in the Donbass forests will not lead the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation to a wider operative breakthrough, somewhere on the front. It is noted that the Russian army is not able to prepare enough personnel for intensive attack on the front.

There are fewer tanks, infantry fighting cars (BMP) and armored personnel carriers (APC) near the front line. Dependence on storming tactics is a negative reflection of the losses of Russian equipment and poor coordination on the front line. According to ISW, the Russian forces are increasingly relying on such frontal attacks with the participation of infantry, it is likely that it is necessary to compensate for the lack of prepared staff and due to mass losses of equipment.
