Spain modernizes its air defense using Mistral 3 missiles: what is the efficiency of the SDR

Modernization is due to the fact that Spain intends to adapt the air defense systems to the new capabilities of the Mistral 3 version, which is a more technological pattern than previous versions. The Spanish Council of Ministers has approved the allocation of almost € 325 million for the modernization of air defense systems using Mistral complexes 3. Thus, Spain became the second major user of these SPRs after France. This was reported on September 26 in Spanish Defensa.

"The Spanish government has already purchased in May 2021 for 43. 4 million euros, a total of 91 Mistral 3 missiles from the French armed forces together with related equipment," journalists write. The second party now consists of more than 500 new missiles. The Spanish armed forces modernize their air defense means for two reasons. The first is the age of equipment available, which was delivered in the late 1980s.

Second, there is a need to adapt the air defense systems to the new capabilities of the Mistral 3 version, which is a qualitative and technological jump compared to previous versions. The latest version of Mistral 3 is a low -range anti -aircraft missile, equipped with an infrared receiver and modern image processing technology. The developers claim that the use of the latest technologies made it possible to achieve a coefficient of efficiency of more than 96%.
