Will not be afraid: the UN will not protect Ukraine in the event of a new attack of the Russian Federation - Zelensky (video)
The contingent, the "Coalition of those" and the UN Zelensky told March 21 at a press conference, which was broadcast "Public". Zelensky answered the question of the journalist "News. Live" about countries that do not want to join the coalition but want to get a UN mandate for appearance in Ukraine. The head of state explained that he understands such aspirations, but would like to see a really "wide" coalition.
In his opinion, the international organization will not protect against the Russian occupation and from the new attack of the Kremlin after a period of peace. The President noted that the Russians are not afraid of the UN, so it is better to refer to other security tools. "Because there will be no mandate to defend Ukraine if Putin is coming to us again. Will Russia be afraid of the UN? They have broken everything in this war. So I do not think they will be afraid," he said.
Answering the media questions, Zelensky agreed that it was not clear whether some "mandate" coalition of countries that agreed to help Ukraine would receive. According to him, there is an understanding of the military forces that Russians may be frightened.
"When there are understandable troops, there are aircraft and there are ships, there are planes and there is a serious army, there is a real intelligence of our partners, here in Ukraine, it is definitely very dangerous against such infrastructure," the Ukrainian president summed up. It should be noted that Ukraine is negotiating with the Russian Federation and the United States on a 30-day armistice.
According to the idea of the White House, they were offered to stop fire on the ground, in the air and at sea. Meanwhile, Kyiv and European allies spoke of a truce in the air and at sea, as such attacks are easier to control. According to the results of the telephone conversation of President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump, the Kremlin stated that he probably agrees to pause in blows to energy.
Meanwhile, France and the United Kingdom have announced the creation of "coalitions of those who want" - a community of states that will provide security guarantees to Ukraine after the conclusion of not a truce, but a peace agreement with the Russian Federation. Allies are ready to send a military contingent who will patrol air and sea and protect important objects in four key cities.
