How many men left Ukraine because of the war: the demographer voiced statistics
He noted that migration through the war has created an imbalance in age structure, which already leads to economic problems. He noted that only the European Union provides data on the gender and age structure of immigrants. According to Eurostat, among those who left Ukraine, about 40% are men, and 60% are women. Of these, only 6% are people aged 65.
Children under 18 years of age among emigrants from Ukraine make up about 31%, and the largest group (about 63%) are people of working age from 18 to 64 years. "Most pensioners remained in Ukraine. This led to the fact that in the age structure of the population, which is now in the territory of Ukraine, the percentage of pensioners has increased, and the share of those engaged in the economy has decreased," said Alexander Gladun.
He added that such a demographic situation in Ukraine leads to a reduction in public social funds, despite the fact that the need to pay pensions and other monetary support remains at the same level. This causes problems in the economy. We will remind, the head of the direction of demography and migration at the Institute of Frontir Olga Dukhnich in the published on September 19 interviews warned that the permission to leave Ukrainians 18-22 years carries risks for demography.
