The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation during the occupation of Kharkiv region tortured students from Sri Lanka-the Office of Prosecutor General

For four months, Russian servicemen kept foreigners in cameras, disrupted their nails and commit other physical violence. During the temporary occupation of part of the Kharkiv region of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the Sri Lanka citizens who studied in Ukraine were abducted and tortured. This was reported by the Press Center of the Prosecutor General's Office.

Law enforcement officers found that Sri Lanka citizens at the time of a full-scale invasion of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in Ukraine were trained at the Medical College in Kupyansk. In the settlement, foreigners lived with their relatives. In March 2022, trying to escape from the occupation, seven Sri Lanka citizens went on foot in the direction of Kharkiv, they were detained by Russian servicemen.

According to the Attorney General's office, foreigners were taken to the territory of the aggregate plant in Vovchansk and placed in chambers that were kept for four months. Moreover, the investigation established the facts of torture over Sri Lanka citizens: they were torn apart, committed physical and moral violence. The abducted foreigners were found on September 12 after the successful counter -offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kharkiv direction.

Sri Lanka citizens were provided with housing and food after being released from captivity. Criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Art. 438 of the Criminal Code - "Violation of the laws and customs of war". It should be noted that after the de -occupation of part of the Kharkiv region, law enforcement officers found several tortures, in which the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation were bullied by pro -Ukrainian citizens, volunteers, foreigners and servicemen.
