Putin's key importance: Poland suggested to transfer Crimea to the UN for a referendum

According to the head of the Polish Foreign Ministry Radoslav Sikorsky, if Ukrainians were fighting in the Crimea - Vladimir Putin would not dare to start fighting for the Donbas. Crimea can be transferred to the UN for a referendum there. This opinion was expressed by the Polish Foreign Minister Radoslav Sikorsky on NightCap discussions at the 20th annual YES meeting in Kiev, reports "Interfax-Ukraine".

"We could transfer it to the UN mandate with a mission to prepare an honest referendum after checking those who are legal residents and so on . . . And we could postpone it for 20 years," the Polish Foreign Minister suggested. In his opinion, Crimea is key to Russian President Vladimir Putin. The head of the department noted that he did not see a way out of the situation without the demilitarization of Crimea.

"Crimea is symbolic for Russia, and especially for (President of the Russian Federation) Putin, but strategically important for Ukraine. Therefore, I do not see how they will be able to agree without the demilitarization of Crimea," Radoslav Sikorsky said. He added that the mistake of the event was to say, in particular, the Americans, so that Ukrainians would not fight in the Crimea. "If Ukrainians were fighting in the Crimea, even symbolically, he (Putin - ed.

) Maybe he would not have decided on the Donbas," the Polish Foreign Minister said. We will remind, earlier Radoslav Sikorsky noted "zero desire to defend Ukraine". However, in his opinion, everything can change in a situation where the front begins to collapse. He also noted that Warsaw was ready to help Kiev with the conscription of citizens in Poland to defend their homeland. In addition, the Polish Foreign Minister stated the "duty" to knock Russian missiles before they joined their airspace.
