Oil Oil: The EU is preparing new painful sanctions against Russia - Bloomberg
This will be the 19th package of European sanctions against the Russian Federation, and the EU hopes to reconcile some of its latest measures with the United States. This week, the delegation of European officials will visit Washington to meet for such a discussion with American colleagues. "We are ready to increase pressure on Russia, but we need our partners in Europe the same," the US Finance Minister Scott Bessent said earlier.
The EU and the United States expects that new sanctions and secondary tariffs will eventually cause the Russian Economic Collapse, and this will force the Kremlin to stop armed aggression against Ukraine. According to the sources of the publication, the new package provides for the strengthening of EU sanctions on Russian shadow vessels, oil traders in third countries, and may also prohibit reinsurance of tankers on the lists.
The EU is considering strengthening sanctions against large Russian oil companies, abolishing the current exceptions that currently use, for example, "Rosneft". Prohibitions on the export of more goods and chemicals used by the military industry of the Russian Federation, as well as restrictions on foreign firms (especially Chinese) that supply these goods can be introduced.
