Suspected of espionage: the Netherlands did not let the fishing vessel from the Russian Federation

The Dutch ports have refused to let fishermen from the Russian Federation, despite the availability of the necessary documents. Earlier, the vessels of the same company Noriebo was suspected of espionage. The incident happened a week ago. The Russian fishing vessel was not allowed into the Dutch port of Emsyhaven, and then into other ports.

The vessel belongs to the Arctic Shiping, which is part of one of the largest fish industrial holdings in Russia, a group of "Noriebo" belonging to the oligarch Vitaliy Orlov. Earlier, the vessels of this company were suspected of espionage, Meduza writes. The Association of Swidnkers of Fish Industrial Fleet (ASRF) of Russia claim that the ship had all the necessary documents - certificates for catch, forms of state port control and others.

They were submitted in advance in accordance with EU requirements. But the ship was not first allowed into the port of Eshaven, and then to the port of Wellson. When they headed in the ports of Germany, they were refused there. It is not excluded that the reason for the non -admission of Russian fishermen could have been the investigation of the Dutch media that Russian fishing vessels could be mixed in spying. The material, in particular, mentioned the vessels of Noriebo.

The authors of the investigation believe that fishing vessels from the Russian Federation, who "come to Emshaven and moored near the military object" can spy on what is happening in the port. Moreover, Emsychen has a strategic importance-there are 11 out of 15 online cables that connect Europe with America, there are two floating LNG terminals and work on the construction of NATO ammunition is being done. There are reasons for suspicion.

Journalists point out that in 2022 the Russian Maritime Doctrine was updated, which stated that civilian vessels, including fishing, could be used in wartime. Noriebo called the opinion of journalists "Fantasies". "However, the restrictions on the ports of the ships under the Russian flag have been touched, there are no restrictions on the supply of fish products," - said in the Russian company.

We will remind, the Netherlands are included in the five largest export markets for Russian fishery products near China, Japan, South Korea and Nigeria. According to the results of 2023 in the Netherlands, Russia exported 138 thousand tons of fishery products - 4% more than a year earlier. This is not the first time that Russia is suspected of espionage using fishing ships.

In April 2023, the intelligence services of Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland reported that Russian ships masked under fishing trawlers and research vessels, allegedly equipped with underwater surveillance equipment. We will remind, Focus wrote about how in Europe it is concerned that Russia can arrange provocations, arself and sabotage in NATO countries. The Russian Federation is already suspected of a number of incidents that occurred in France, Poland, Britain and the Baltic States.
