According to Oleksandr Musienko, if the occupiers are not able to reach Kharkiv, the propagandists will declare that this was not the purpose of the offensive at all, and the main task was to create a "sanitary zone". Russia has developed a "Plan B" in Kharkiv region in advance, if it is not possible to reach the regional center. The head of the Center for Military Legal Research Alexander Musienko on the air of the national telecommunication told about it.

According to the expert, the alternative plan of action is to create the so -called "sanitary zone". Russian propagandists could argue that the sanitary zone was designed to stop shelling of Belgorod region. Musienko explained that Russian propaganda could present it as a pre -planned step, claiming that Kharkiv was not a primary target, but only a narrow strip, which is now under control, was important.

"But if this sanitary zone was to stop the shelling of the Belgorod region, then they did not stop. They will fly there, so will fly there," Musienko said. The expert also noted that Ukrainian defenders in the Kharkiv region showed effective actions, and Ukraine felt the support of Western countries. He stressed that the event gave permission to strikes in Russia, establishing a kind of "red lines" for Putin.

If the Russian president decides to further expand the offensive, the US may allow strikes in more distant territories. "If Putin went on or if he goes on if he tries to move the strength and expand the offensive, I am practically sure that the US will allow us to beat in a more distant territory.
