Wanted to disrupt the supply of weapons and prepared an explosion on the railway: the SBU detained a saboteur in Rivne

At the end of February, the Russian agent arrived in Ukraine under the guise of an EU citizen. He watched the movement of railway trains and was about to install explosives to let the train under the slope. Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine detained the Russian sabotage while preparing for a blast on one of the key areas of the railway in Rivne. This was reported on Thursday, March 2, in the SBU Press Center.

According to the investigation, the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Federation (GRU) has set the task to disrupt the supply of foreign weapons for defense forces on the Southern and Eastern Fronts. The Russian sabotage came to Ukraine on February 19 under the guise of a resident of a European country - at a checkpoint he provided a passport of an EU citizen. Arriving in the Rivne region, the attacker conducted intelligence near the strategic transport artery.

The SBU investigators recorded several exits to the area where the saboteur watched the movement of warehouses. Further, the Russian agent planned to install explosives in one of the "vulnerable" places on the railway. During his preparation for diversion, he was detained by SBU staff. The SBU confirmed that the man is part of the agent apparatus of Russian military intelligence and has a residence permit in the Russian Federation.

It has been established that since 2014 he has completed hostile tasks against the forces of the anti -terrorist operation in the Donbass in the group "Oplot" and "Battalion" "Khan". After a full -scale invasion, the detainee joined the ranks of the occupation group "Kherson" and took an active part in the fighting in the Zaporozhye and Kherson directions.

SBU investigators found that in September 2022 the attacker returned to Russia, where he received the task of conducting subversive activities in the Northwestern region of Ukraine. We will remind, on March 1 in the SBU reported the detention of the Russian agent in the Nikolaev area. The suspect was an instructor for the tactical training of one of the NGOs who collected intelligence on the dislocation of defense units in the Southern region.
