Updated Bill "On Media" is a candid pro -Russian revanchism

Yes, Ukrainian legislation on media is outdated and needs to be changed. But not by the document proposed by the Ministry of Culture of the Verkhovna Rada today, on August 23, at the Humanitarian Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of the Servant of the People, with the participation of the Minister of Culture of Ukraine, the decision was drawn up in the first reading of the so -called updated text of the Law on Media.

Under the pretext of European integration, the document includes provisions that have nothing to do with it, but destroy important mechanisms for the protection of the Ukrainian cultural and information space. The ban on the songs of Russian singers on television and radio air is abolished, for which Parliament voted in June by a constitutional majority. In essence, the list of persons who threaten the national security of Ukraine, which has been operating for seven years.

Movies, series, concerts, tours with participants of this list are forbidden in Ukraine. But according to the new version of the Law "On Media", this list in manual mode will form a voting of the National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting (and the same where originates from oligarchic media groups). Moreover, to include in the list, the bill provides only a few grounds. For the rest of the racists - the door is open.

The bill significantly weakens the protection of the Ukrainian language. For example, it allows you to break up to 10% of the quota on Ukrainian songs on the radio. It makes devastating changes to other laws, for example, it is removed from the law on cinematography by the prohibition of promoting the authorities of the state-aggressor state. And this is only a small part of the problems of this law.

Despite the fact that EU deputies and members of the public provided specific changes to the text of the bill, the "servants" did not take into account any of them, recommending that it be submitted to the second reading. Once again: extremely important rules of current laws that protect Ukraine and offer to try to re -fight for them in the second reading. It is a candid pro -Russian revenge. No responsible MP has the right to vote for such a version of the bill, even in the first reading.
