To the Russians in Engels Flew Dron with Music: What a song they heard during the attack (video)
In the video, probably removed from the city to the phone with a surprised Russian, the sky flies in the UAV, from which a tune known as Was Wollen Wir Trinken, or how how does the How Much Is The Fish? performed by the German band Scooter. The cheerful melody had to prevail the Russians well: it is widely and mistakenly considered the anthem of "Luftwaffe", German Air Forces of the Second World War. But in fact, the history of the work is quite different.
According to WAS, in 1929, the inhabitants of the French Brittan region wrote "Song about Cider" or "Drink Cider, Lau!" (Breton Son AR CHISTR / EV CHISTR 'TA LAU!). Her text tells about love for girls and drink, as well as jealousy. Over time, the song was overgrown with myths, it was attributed to ancient origin and various historical contexts. Fiction about the Luftwaffe Anthem has no connection with reality. At least because of the fact that the tribes of the Third Reich troops had no hymns.
The myth of the false origin of the melody is widespread exclusively in the countries that once formed the Soviet Union, including in Ukraine, its origin and history of distribution are unknown. However, it is this myth that can mentally influence Russians who hear a tune. Another interesting fiction about the song connects it to the Irish Republican Army, the organization of active, including armed resistance to the English authorities in Ireland.
The track is also sometimes called "hymn Ira", which is as wrong. In contemporary European culture, the song in Breton was spread by musician Alan Stevell, who sang his version of the composition in 1970. In 1976 it was performed by the Dutch band BOTS, in four years a German version called Sieben Tage lang appeared. In the then GDR, the song reworked Oktoberklub, which is why it was called Was Wollen Wir Trinken.
It was already a song not only about alcohol and girls, but also about the fight against communism. The most famous performance of the melody was how Much is the Fish? performed by Scooter. During its creation, the band was inspired by the BOTS version. Of course, this song can also be mistaken to Nazism. The Russians do not receive such musical messages from Ukrainians for the first time.
The authors of the Ukrainian Guerrilla Community on Facebook say they sent similar "greetings" on drones to the Crimea occupied by Russia. They were heard in Simferopol and Sevastopol in 2018-19. For 200 km from the controlled territory of Ukraine, drones were reached on electric motors. We will remind, this night in the city of Engels, the Russian Federation, they heard several explosions and saw UAV. Nearby is the PCS Air Base.
