According to experts, various chemical compounds are often used for smoke spraying. For this purpose, in particular, use hexachloroethane, which is a sufficiently toxic substance. Russian troops actively use drones (UGV) to create smoke curtains on the battlefield. One of the video on social networks shows a simple unmanned vehicle that spreads thick black smoke. On June 25, Bulgarian Military Viewers told more about the unmanned platform.

The chassis of the unmanned platform consists of ordinary metal frames with four rubber wheels, on which the smoke scattering device is attached. This device is reminiscent of an anti -tank mine, although the observers have noted it cannot be confirmed. There is no official information on the range of an unmanned ground terrestrial apparatus. However, observers say that the device first produces white thick smoke, which then becomes black.

Different chemical compounds are often used to create smoke of this density. One of the most commonly used for this purpose is hexachloroethane, which during combustion secretes thick black smoke, which is mostly made of carbon particles. "This smoke closes the inspection very effectively and can be used to mask the movement of troops, techniques and other actions from the observation of the enemy.

The particles of hexachloroethane effectively absorb and scatter light, which makes the smoke especially opaque," experts write. In addition to hexachloroethane, zinc chloride and aluminum chloride, which increase the density and resistance of smoke, can be used in the smoke mixtures. However, the use of such compounds is associated with risks - during the combustion of hexachloroethane, toxic by -products can form, including hydrochloric acid and phosgen, which pose a health hazard.
