Soldiers of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are provided as Ukrainian prisoners. How much money goes to keeping prisoners of war

The military operation of the Armed Forces in Kur Region significantly increased the exchange fund. But some of the invaders have been captured in Ukraine since the beginning of the Great War. The focus found out how expensive the state costs them. The number of prisoners of Russian soldiers is increasing every day of a full -scale war. The beginning of the military operation of the Armed Forces in the Kursk region opened new opportunities for replenishment of the exchange fund.

The project "I want to live" was confirmed on September 27 by captivity 294 of the military servicemen of the Russian Federation, this figure includes contractors and constituents. The Russian authorities provide more favorable statistics for her. At a meeting with journalists in June 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that there were 1348 Russian military in Ukraine in Ukraine, and 6465 people in the Russian Federation of captured soldiers of the Armed Forces.

International sources record other data. The British newspaper The Independent, citing Ukrainian military officials on September 20, wrote that the Armed Forces had captured about 2,000 Russian military during battles in the Kursk region. It should be added that during the September operation to liberate the aggregate plant in the Volchansk units of the GUR Defense Ministry of Ukraine, about 20 Russians were captured.

Four months of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation tried to break into the plant, but most were destroyed, deserted or captured. The recent official data on the expenses of Ukraine for the maintenance of prisoners of war was announced in March 2023. According to the deputy chairman of the department of Elena Vysotskaya, about 10 thousand hryvnias per month were spent on one prisoner of war.

This amount included providing food, clothing, medicines, campaigning, staff salaries, security, convoy and communal expenses. The cost level can be compared with the maintenance of the Ukrainian prisoner in a pre -trial detention center: about 11 thousand hryvnias are coming a month. It also includes all administrative expenses.

The Russian military is kept in special camps in accordance with the norms of the Third Geneva Convention on the Treatment of Prisoners of Pursuing, says Petro Yatsenko, a representative of the coordination headquarters on the management of prisoners of war. Russians provide three meals a day and qualified medical care. They also have the right to receive parcels and contact their relatives. According to Yatsenko, there are four camps in Ukraine for captives.

Employees of the Red Cross and the UN are observed everywhere. All prisoners of war can work on a 6-day work schedule and receive a quarter of the Swiss franc, about 10 hryvnias a day. For the most part, captives are engaged in locksmith and joinery. Those who have officers' positions, write requests and also receive the right to work so that they do not sit all day alone and without business.

The Geneva Convention obliges that there are shops in the camp, and the products are purchased at the request of prisoners. Nutrition costs have not changed compared to previous years - the amount does not exceed 10,000 UAH per month. Yatsenko states the increase in the number of captives after the start of a military operation in the Kursk region: this will allow Kiev to expand the exchange fund and negotiate with the aggressor on priority.

The Russian side prefers to change those who have recently been captured by the Armed Forces, and in Ukraine there are those who have been in captivity for over two years, stated by the headquarters. "Obviously in the Russian Federation have already forgotten about them, and it is not profitable to keep them. It is better to exchange them and return them home to the Ukrainian military," he summarizes.

We will remind, recently the invaders declared the capture of the soldiers of the 1st separate assault battalion named after Dmitry Kotsyubil in the area of collet. The commander of the 108th separate mechanized battalion "Wolf Da Vinci" Sergey Filimonov said in response that no one has been captured during the battle path of the battalion.
