Naftogaz of Ukraine launched a mechanism for compulsory recovery of compensation from Russia for assets in the temporarily occupied Crimea in accordance with the decision of the Hague arbitration. He explained that on April 12, when the arbitration tribunal under the permanent chamber of the Arbitration Court in the Hague obliged Russia to pay $ 5 billion in compensation. As of July, the Russian Federation has not transferred funds, and therefore refuses to voluntarily execute the court decision. "In principle, we did not expect another from the state whose credo is to violate all the existing civilized norms.

Therefore, our team together with foreign advisers, without waiting for the dry ink under the Hague decision, began to develop and implement a strategy for its enforcement," he wrote. Thus, on June 23, Naftogaz and another 5 companies of the group were filed with the US Federal District Court in Columbia Colombi's request for recognition of the arbitration decision and admission to its enforcement. The group's interests are presented by the multinational law firm Covington & Burling LLP.

Meanwhile, on July 6, Gazprom Chairman Alexei Miller threatened that if the Ukrainian company does not give up claims, Russia would impose sanctions due to "unfair actions" by Naftogaz. "This can block any operations between Russian companies and Naftogaz," the Russian said.
