This scandal has raised a number of issues about the limits of public responsibility, manipulation in the information space and the reaction of Ukrainian society to similar situations. It all started with the fact that on social networks they raised an old interview with Portnikov, in which his statements were torn out of context.
Almost a year ago, in February 2024 Vitaliy Portnikov gave a great interview to journalist Natalia Balyuk for her YouTube Project "Balling Themes". And this year there was an excerpt of his words that ordinary people, not children of deputies, should die for democracy. Of course, this has caused a storm of emotions, especially among citizens who are painful to issues related to war and public injustice.
Focus surveyed experts believe that the situation has become possible because of the overall feeling of insulting and injustice in the society injured by the war. However, it cannot be excluded that at some stage This could be joined by Russian agents that are actively working in Ukraine.
