The press service of the National Police told about the details of the case. The "scheme" covered three regions of Ukraine, the press service said. In particular, when it was time to carry out investigative actions, they visited Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk and Kiev. It was in these regions that the persons involved set up the work of a fictitious "Charity Foundation".
According to the case file, the deputy of one of the City Council in Sumy region created several call centers, which aimed at allegedly "fundraising for the Armed Forces". Centers were called by entrepreneurs and asked to assist with the purchase of military equipment - bulletproof vests, thermal imagers, helmets and more. Entrepreneurs transferred funds, but the required equipment "Philanthropists" never bought, the National Police says.
For the cover was transferred in favor of the Armed Forces half a percent of the collected 10 million UAH - that is, only 50 thousand UAH. The rest - "put in the pocket". Law enforcement officers exposed the equipment and conducted searches in offices and at the place of residence of the persons involved. The following evidence was found in the case: the activities of the "Col-Center" and "Charity" stopped, the accounts of related counterparties were blocked, indicated in the National Police.
The press service also published staff searches conducted at the place of activity of "philanthropists". One of the workers explained what they did here: "Informed the people that began the war. " The persons suspected of committing crimes under Part 3, 4 of Art. 190 (fraud) and (Part 1, 2 Article 255 (Creation of a Criminal Organization) of the Criminal Code. The maximum term of punishment under this article is 12 years in prison.
