Nobel Prize delivery: The Foundation has recalled the invitation of ambassadors from the Russian Federation, Belarus and Iran

The invitation of the ambassadors of three countries was recalled against the backdrop of a "tumultuous reaction" in Sweden. In particular, it is about Swedish politicians, including the prime minister of the country who wanted to boycott the presentation ceremony. The Nobel Foundation has withdrawn a recent invitation to the Ambassadors from the Russian Federation, Belarus and Iran to the Stockholm awarding ceremony.

The press service of the Fund of September 2 states that the decision was changed in connection with "acute response in Sweden". The publication states that the decision of the Nobel Fund to invite all ambassadors to the Nobel Prize ceremony, according to its previous practice, caused a violent response.

It is about Swedish politicians, including the country's prime minister who wanted to boycott the presentation ceremony, learning about the possible presence at the diplomat ceremony from these countries. "This decision is based on what we consider to be important and correct as possible to spread the values and ideas for which the Nobel Prize is," the statement said.

An example was the situation of 2022, when the Peace Prize was awarded to human rights fighters from the Russian Federation, Ukraine and Belarus. In particular, the winners of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2022 were the Belarusian activist Ales Bilyatsky, the Russian human rights organization "Memorial" and the Ukrainian human rights organization "Center for Civil Freedoms", which is engaged in documenting Russian military crimes.

However, this year the decision to invite Russian, Belarusian and Iranian ambassadors "provoked a violent reaction", so a new decision was made and withdrawing the invitation. "The Nobel Foundation has decided to repeat last year's exception to ordinary practice - not to invite the ambassadors of Russia, Belarus and Iran to the Nobel Prize ceremony in Stockholm.

We will remind, on September 1, the Nobel Committee decided to abandon the practice of the previous year and invite to their traditional feast on the occasion of the award of diplomats of all countries with accreditation in Sweden, including Russia and Belarus. After a while, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine responded to this decision.
