The effectiveness of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation under threat: Tomahawk gives Ukraine a strategic advantage - ISW
According to the Institute of War Study (ISW), the supply of Tomahawk greatly expands Ukraine's ability to hit the rear objects of Russia, including drone factories in Elabuz and Engels-2. Within the reach of the 2 500 -kilometer variant of the rocket is at least 1,945 objects, and 1 600 -kilometer - more than 1 650. Such strikes can seriously affect the logistics and combat operations of Russian forces at the front. The Russian leadership is actively trying to contain the supply of Tomahawk.
In an interview with October 5, President Vladimir Putin said that the supply of missiles would "violate positive dynamics" in the relations of Moscow and Washington and called them "a new stage of escalation. " The Kremlin is trying to use the prospect of improving bilateral relations as a lever to restrict Ukraine's support and influence on US decisions. At the same time, Russia is increasing the production of Shahaned drones and significantly increases their use in night attacks.
In September 2025, the average night pack of percussion drones amounted to 187 devices, while in January there were about 83, and some packages exceeded 500 drones. The drones allow you to strike at a distance, but their combat load is limited, and they are not capable of replacing rockets to damage specialized facilities. At the same time, Ukraine launched a mass production of its own winged FLAMINGO rocket with a flight range of about 3,000 km and a combat part of 1 150 kg.
The system is not yet tested in real combat conditions and takes time for large -scale production. ISW experts point out that the combination of Tomahawk supply and Ukraine's own shock systems can significantly change the balance of power, increasing the ability of Kiev to impress the strategic and rear objects of Russia.
