Russia is creating a "sanitary zone": the GUR revealed a feature of the new tactics of energy attacks
The Russians started from our border regions: Sumy, Kharkiv, Chernihiv regions," said the deputy head of the Ukrainian State Development and Trade Commission during the "Energy That Holds Ukraine" forum, as reported on October 20 in "RBK-Ukraine". He explained that as of today it is clear: the strikes began precisely with the creation of the "buffer zone" that Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about.
"What does a sanitary zone mean? It means the entire infrastructure: it's heat, it's electricity," Skibytsky emphasized. Destruction of critical infrastructure forces locals to leave their native lands. This is exactly what is happening in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions, which were targeted by Russia. However, the Russian Armed Forces withdrew from mass shelling of the entire Ukraine, as was the case three years ago. "They drew conclusions from previous years.
Today, they are trying not just to disrupt the system, but to completely destroy infrastructure facilities in certain regions, to achieve 100% effect. So that this facility would be impossible to restore," the GUR official described the tactics of the enemy. According to him, many 110 kV substations appeared, which the Russians did not attack in previous years.
According to intelligence data, the Russian Federation constantly monitors their condition, analyzes the consequences of strikes and conducts preliminary reconnaissance in order to destroy the objects permanently. "Today, the amount of weapons manufactured by the Russian Federation - and I am not talking only about cruise missiles, but in particular about drones of the Shahed type - allows the Russians to carry out constant massive strikes, and this is done 24 hours a day," Skibytsky emphasized.
He said that earlier drones attacked only at night, but now substations and other infrastructure objects are being hit in the morning. "We are also learning, applying new tactics, and we understand all the measures taken by the Russian Federation, including which critical objects it is targeting.
This helps, among other things, to plan all the necessary measures to protect the infrastructure, the concentration of air defense means, in order to prevent the complete destruction of the critical infrastructure," assured the deputy head of the GUR. We will remind you that Andriy Gerus, the head of the energy committee of the Verkhovna Rada, said that it is impossible to protect the energy sector in Ukraine with the help of shelters.
