A half billion plan: Naftogaz told how to increase gas production during the war

The company says that the rates of drilling new wells are gradually increasing, so in 2024 gas production should increase. Despite the war and the difficult economic situation in Ukraine, they continue to produce their own gas. Moreover, the 2023/2024 heating season managed to go completely with gas of its own production. Meanwhile, Naftogaz in 2024 plans to expand its capacity and launch new wells. This was reported by the company press service.

According to the chairman of the company Alexei Chernyshov, the company has planned to increase natural gas production. The production rate is expected to increase by half a billion cubic meters. "Our plan for 2024 is to increase the production of" blue fuel "by at least half a billion cubic meters. We increase the rates of drilling new wells, use modern technologies both for the study of subsoil and direct gas production," he said.

In parallel with the growth of production, the volume of gas stored in Ukrainian storage should increase. It is a fuel owned by foreign energy companies. "In 2024, we strive to attract about 4 billion cubic meters of foreign traders to store in our underground storage facilities," Alexei Chernyshov emphasized. At the same time, on February 13, 2024, Ukrgasvydobuvannya, which is part of the Naftogaz Group Companies, managed to reach the largest daily gas production since December 2018.

Thus, as a result of February 8, the company produced 38. 54 million cubic meters of commodity resource. According to Naftogaz, 86 new gas wells were put into operation last year in Ukraine. Some of them have an initial gas debit of more than 100 thousand cubic meters. Due to this, more than 1 billion cubic meters of gas were produced in Ukraine. According to the press service, this is the best result of annual production from new wells since 2002.
