iPhone with a dual camera: it became known when the new ultra-thin Air 2 model will be released
As for the iPhone Air 2, it was supposed to be part of the iPhone 18 series, which will be released in the fall of 2026. In addition to it, iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and iPhone Fold were announced in the new line. And the basic iPhone 18 was supposed to be released in the spring of 2027, along with the more budget model iPhone 18e. Now the plan has changed, and the thin iPhone Air 2 has been postponed to 2027.
By the way, this is not the only news about this model: it is also reported that Apple wants to add a second camera to the back panel of the new phone, and is currently working on it. Thus, the terms are adjusted, and three new iPhones may be released in the spring of 2027 — the already announced iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e, as well as the iPhone Air 2.
However, it is not yet clear whether Apple plans to make changes to the lineup scheduled for September 2026 to compensate for the delay of the iPhone Air 2. However, as experts note, the "spring 2027" date may still be not final, because changing the design to accommodate the second camera is quite a difficult task. Apple will need to figure out how to add a second lens to the back without affecting battery life.
The publication also notes that in connection with the first iPhone Air model, users were concerned about three points — the strength of the thin smartphone, the battery life and the camera. With the first two comments, Apple did well: stress tests proved that the iPhone Air is really strong, and its battery life turned out to be longer than skeptical forecasts suggested. The only vulnerability remained the camera: the iPhone Air had a module with a single lens on the back panel.
