Tactical SCR deficiency: the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation intends to purchase the Thor-M2 systems in addition

The problem of shortage of SMRC lies in heavy losses on the front. According to open sources, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation lost 29 anti-aircraft missile complexes of the Thor series in Ukraine. The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation intend to fill the shortage in tactical anti-aircraft missile complexes (SAC) Thor-M2.

For this purpose the contract was concluded by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and the manufacturer-Izhevsky electromechanical plant "dome", according to the Army Recognition observers. The authors of the publication point out that after the invasion of Ukraine, Russia faced a significant reduction in its modern arsenal of air defense, losing almost a third of systems. Now the Russian Federation is tasked with replenishing these important defense agents.

Although the specificity of the new contract remains confidential, several open sources have confirmed the significant loss of Russian troops. According to estimates based on photo and video footage, the Russian army lost 29 anti-aircraft missile complexes of the Thor series, including a little-known Arctic version of Thor-M2DT. Viewers write that the TORA is a special place in the Russian defense system, especially in the part of counteraction to winged missiles and high -precision weapons.

Most of these systems are mounted on the GM-355 chassis, which enables them to accompany tanks and other armored vehicles in different areas. Thor-M2 is a Russian anti-aircraft missile complex that was officially adopted by the Russian army in 2008. The system is equipped with 8 missiles 9m331 or 9m332 with a flight range from 1500 to 7000 meters and a flight height of 50 to 6000 meters. The SPR is highly deployed and is able to hit 10 to 12 targets within a minute.

The complex is equipped with two radar installed on the tower. The overall dimensions of the Thor-M2 are: the crew consists of three people. "The problem of dominance in the air remains one of the main conflict in Ukraine, so the emergence of the TOR-M2 system is a significant advantage for Russian troops. However, this equipment should yet be built and delivered, and it will not immediately appear on the battlefield" , - the observers summed up.
