"Obsession Youth with the Russian Federation": In the EU they want not to ban the entry of Russians younger than 25 - the media
This was reported with reference to EU sources by EUOBSERVERVERVER. According to the interlocutor of the publication in the diplomatic circles of the European Union, there are many ideas as to what restrictions on the issuance of visas to citizens of the Russian Federation can eventually introduce - the future ban, according to one of the scenarios, will affect "only certain categories of Russians".
Another source in the EU said that the idea of liberating young Russians from visa restrictions was moving inside the block. "In the EU circles, which make decisions, there is some obsession with Russian youth - younger in 25 years," the interlocutor of journalists said.
At the same time, he noted that most Russian soldiers who committed war crimes in Ukraine are younger than 25 years, so it is necessary to get rid of the idea that a full -scale war against Ukraine is simply a "Putin's war". "I expect that separate negotiations on the full ban on the entry of Russian tourists will only begin after the decision made on Wednesday," the EU diplomat said.
According to the New York Times, the European Union is already ending sanctions that could be imposed against Moscow, and some in the EU believe that visa prohibition or visa restrictions will make it clear to ordinary Russians that they and their government should face a full -scale invasion of Ukraine.
The publication notes that as a compromise, the political block could suspend some parts of the Visa Regime Simplification Agreement in 2007, which simplified and cheaper the process of obtaining visas for entry into the EU. Journalists recalled that part of the agreement on freedom of movement of Russian officials and businessmen was terminated at the end of February, and the extension of prohibitions will abolish the preferences for other citizens of the Russian Federation in this matter.
Earlier, the Chief Diplomat of the European Union Josep Borrel criticized the idea of banning entry into the EU territory to all citizens of the Russian Federation. In his opinion, it is impossible to close the opportunity to leave Russia to those who want it under the circumstances.
