"Prometheus" against "Raptor": How dangerous Russian C-500 for F-22 and F-35 fighters

Despite the formidable "paper" characteristics of the Russian air defense system, some experts believe that the placement of complexes in the occupied Crimea is a large adventure of the Kremlin. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation has reported the adoption of the last generation of the C-500 anti-aircraft missile system (SAC), which has undergone careful tests.

These complexes are intended to resist advanced samples of Western aviation, but the question of the efficiency of Russian systems. According to military reviewers Army Recognition, the Russian C-500 is indeed a new potential threat to US F-22 Raptor and F-35 Lightning II fighters. Experts say that the C-500 missile system is an advanced achievement of Russian military equipment, which is a significant step forward compared to the C-400 precursor.

Like other modern air defense platforms, Prometheus C-500 is not just the only component. It consists of six interrelated modules-missile installations 77P6, command paragraphs 55K6MA and 85-2-2, radar detection and combat management 91H6A (M), radar detection of 96l6-CP, RLS of types 76T6, 77T6. All of these elements are mounted on multi -wheeled trucks or trailers. Theoretically, the complex is capable of affecting hypersonic missiles, aircraft and low -orbiting satellites.

Its radar systems and target systems can detect targets up to 600 kilometers. This range allows you to identify and track the goals long before their entry into the area of the lesion. The C-500 SPR is equipped with 77H6/77H6-H1 missile interceptors, which can reach a height of up to 200 kilometers, which allows you to intercept ballistic missiles at the average stage of their flight and affect low-orbiting satellites-this ability is extremely important to counteract modern threats.

Using multiple radar frequencies and complex signal processing, the C-500 can identify and track the stealth pendants, reducing their efficiency in penetration into the protected air space. In addition, the C-500 has the ability to start and high-fire, which allows it to hit a few goals at a time.

Given the above capabilities of the Russian SPRC, experts believe that the C-500 is really capable of resisting modern Western fighters, despite serious stealth-characteristics of such samples as F-22 Raptor and F-35. Probably hoping for the power of their new SPRs, the Russians decided to place complexes in the occupied territory of Crimea in order to cover important objects from successful strikes of Ukraine's defense forces. However, this decision has one nuance.
