"Hurricane" at the Armed Forces Service: Where Ukraine can find rare ammunition to the BM-27 RSSV

Ukrainian observers noted that the enemy also has a deficiency of 220 mm of jet shells to these installations. For example, in 2023, the Russian MIC released only 2800 units. In one of its streams, the Armyatv published a report dedicated to the combat operation of the reactive system of the volley fire (RSZV) BM-27 "Hurricane" from the 40th Artillery Brigade.

The video footage presented the fire at the enemy's positions, as well as the fact of the destruction of one of the command points of the Russian troops. In this regard, the Defense Express observers raised questions about the presence and supply of scarce 220 mm of jet shells to these installations. Analysts say that the issue of a 220-mm of jet shells remains relevant even for Russia's army.

According to The Military Balance 2024, at the beginning of last year, the Russian Armed Forces had 220 BM-27 Artisystems "Hurricane" and another 550 units for conservation. The low rates of putting into operation of these systems may be related to the limited production of ammunition. Thus, in 2023, the Russian MIC was able to produce only 2800 jet shells for "hurricanes", while the plan for 2024 is 14 thousand ammunition.

In the context of hostilities, such volumes remain insufficient, which forces you to look for alternative sources of supply. In addition, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation has up to 10 modernized installations "Hurricane-1M", which are distinguished by bikalibality-the possibility of use of both 220-mm and 300 mm of jet shells. This partially compensates for the lack of ammunition for standard BM-27, but does not fully solve the problem.

Thus, the option of ammunition supplies by those countries, which are in service with these RSSS, is argued. According to analysts, they include: summarizing, analysts have suggested that ammunition could fall into the most exotic way. "Even with the correction, it looks like the sources of external supplies of jet 220 mm shells to BM-27" Hurricane "can look as exotic as possible, and be in the most unexpected corners of the globe.
