"Direct your passion to Russia." Vogue's resonant photo shoot in Vogue even in the United States: Columnist WP emotionally responded to critics

Olena and Vladimir Zelensky in a photo shoot for Vogue (photo: Annie Leibovitz / Vogue / OP) was filled with a photo shoot by Elena and Vladimir Zelensky for Vogue magazine, held in Kiev by a famous photographer Annie Leibovitz, became the subject of controversy not only in Ukraine but also in Ukraine.

According to the column, published by the journalist of The Washington Post, there were critics in the United States who accused Zelensky of "frivolousness" during the war because of a photo shoot in Vogue. The WP Columnist Sleepy Banch responded to such reproaches with emotional and sarcastic text, exposing the American public itself in the frivolous and superficial perception of such difficult topics as war in Ukraine.

HB publishes a complete translation of his column called Zelensky into Vogue: on their part, it is reasonable, not senseless (The Zelenskys are in Vogue. What do they do smart, not Silly). *** It is difficult to imagine more meaningless to give up Ukraine's support than the fact that its desperate leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy became the hero of photo reporting Annie Leibovitz for Vogue. And yet the Internet is the Internet - this has happened.

Apparently, the fact that Zelensky devoted the time of a photo shoot in the midst of resistance to Russia's brutal attempts to dismember his country and destroy its people may be an argument in favor of curtailing US support for Ukraine's military efforts. Allegedly, the "frivolousness" of Zelensky - who had already denied the forecasts that it would run away, as soon as Russian tanks have burst - it was still hidden by the arguments that are put forward by Russia's friendly apparatus.

Like, how should we treat this guy seriously when he makes photo shoots with Ben Stiller? How can he head his country if he acts at the Grammy Ceremony? Why do world leaders have photo shoots with him, while there are more urgent problems such as inflation in their own countries or rising energy prices? Discard a completely frantic idea that the world leader is allegedly unable to meet celebrities in the midst of the global crisis - a similar opinion would probably be challenged by the ghosts of Winston Churchill and Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

Let's get realists: Zelensky meets the Western stars and appears in magazines dedicated to celebrities, because it is the only way to keep a crisis in his country in the spotlight of the US community. And all because if the American public presents a story without attachment to a celebrity, influent or a well -known model, the public will most likely stop paying attention to this topic. We have a surprisingly poor ability to concentrate. News from Ukraine seems to have lost a little novelty.

The plot was too tightened. The second act would be cut, well, it is possible to expect that we will worry another atrocity of the Russians, isn't it? It seems that for some time everything is stomping on the spot. What is the Netflix series? Too swollen, should be reduced. Such is the cold, calculated truth.

Without support of the event, Ukraine will fall; It awaits the borders over the wake of the Russian tyrant; And its people must go through the horrors, which they have not seen since the Holodomor, when the Soviet Union made a campaign of purposeful famine in Ukraine. Zelensky's accusation of "frivolousness" is only a projection of the American people: if someone should be considered frivolous, then it is us.

The fact that it enjoys our frivolousness is not a blow to it, but a reminder that Zelensky understands the power of public image in the modern war. No less offensive are the reproaches of Russian puppet, which simply hate Ukrainian independence and hope to see how the country will break into pieces to demonstrate that the Russian bear cannot joke. Their disgusting thoughts are expected.

Even more concern is those - especially from the conservative right wing - who at least nominally support Ukraine (or at least did not actively oppose the departure of the American assistance of the besieged nation and its people). But now they were caused by the fact that Zelensky appeared in Vogue - the famous center of liberal celebrities - that it even makes them review the whole plan [the idea of supporting Ukraine].

If your support for Western democracy is so infirm that it is capable of falling at a time when one of the leaders of this democracy stands before Hasselblad's camera in Leibovitz, it does not matter what is happening in Ukraine: the West has lost.
