She regularly appeared on Russian television, received local musical awards, including the Golden Gramophone, and participated in the Song of the Year project.

In October 2022, the NSDC imposed sanctions against cultural figures who support Russia or are active in its territory. Ani Lorak was on this list. In November 2024, Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree on deprivation of such persons of state awards, thus lost its state titles and awards. In 2016, the Russian deputy Vitaliy Milonov publicly suggested to help Lorak with receiving the Russian passport, but then its representatives denied similar intentions.
