To fight to the end: Putin is now not deprived of prisoners sent to Ukraine - BBC

According to the newspaper, prisoners receive only "parole", while they go to war to Ukraine until the end of the fighting. Vladimir Putin changed his policy on prisoners who went to the war against Ukraine. The Russian President now refuses to give them a pardon, instead, the convicts are concluded without the possibility of termination before the end of hostilities in Ukraine. About it writes the Russian BBC service.

Earlier, the Russian authorities attracted prisoners to participate in the war, promising them a pardon after six months of service. According to the late Yevgeny Prigogine, the head of the Wagner PEC, this approach made it possible to send almost 50 thousand people to the front, some of whom returned home "clean". However, now the situation has changed, and instead of pardon prisoners receive only "parole liberation", while they go to the war in Ukraine until the end of the fighting.

According to the publication, the conclusion of six -year contracts with prisoners stopped in the fall of 2023. One of the residents of the Transbaikal region on the conditions of anonymity told that her husband, convicted for a serious crime, was recruited to one of the detachments for the prisoners "Storm V". He went to war in Ukraine under a contract, which, instead of the usual six months, stretched for a year.

At the end of the contract, he will not be able to return home because "the contract will be automatically extended. " Other relatives of Russian citizens who are fighting in "Storm V" also claim that their loved ones will continue their service until the end of the war. This condition, according to them, was allegedly stipulated when signing the contract.

According to the publication, this is explained by the decree signed by Putin in September 2022, which actually prohibits termination of contracts during partial mobilization, even after their expiration. Thus, the prisoners were faced with the same conditions as contractors and mobilized, unable to return home until the end of the so -called "one's" (wars in Ukraine). We will remind, the wives of the Russian invaders appealed to return their husbands home.

The State Duma of the Russian Federation replied that their service would continue until the end of the war. We will also remind, in December 2023, President of the Russian Federation Putin stated that the Kremlin does not plan to carry out a second wave of mobilization. According to him, 300,000 people were drafted into the army as part of partial mobilization. Further there was a transition to a set of military under contracts, and at that time there were 486 thousand people in the army.
